The Andaman Center for Migrant Education (ACME) officially opened July 1st. For safeguarding purposes, it was decided that kindergarten and first grade would remain out of school to ensure their safety. This puts the total number of students at 45, ensuring that the number of students per classroom is within the safeguarding policy parameter. With this in place grades 2-4 are able to attend for the full day, ensuring that they will not fall behind in their curriculum. There are a number of measures in place to ensure student safety from the Coronavirus, please see here.

We also received a private donation to plant grass at the center. We have wanted to do this for years but never had the funding. Grass will help to eliminate the amount of dust and dirt that is created when students are playing at recess and keep the center grounds cooler. The donation was also used to fix the playground so students have a fun place to get some healthy exercise during recess.

It is going to be an awesome year and we are so thankful that the center was able to open and provide a positive, safe and clean learning atmosphere for the students.
